front suspension

I am looking to update the front suspension on my 81 coupe with 118 k miles. Tracks straight, no vibrations or wobbles. Steering wheel snaps back on me when i hit a bump while turni g I have lowered the car, so i need a bump steer kit. Whenever the front left wheel hits a good bump it makes a pretty terrible noise, so i guess i need new shock inserts. Tie rods converted to turbo, while i am in there? Ball joints look a little crushed.

the host has a kit that covers the bump steer and the tie rods. Anyone out there used this product? Any advice at all would be helpful.

i just installed the ER rubber bushings on the control arms. great product- fits well and feels good on the road. if all that stuff is original, just replace it all. its all got to come apart anyway. ive had a bump steer kit on my car forever, it helps a lot.
one suggestion on installing that part is only unbolt one side of the rack at a time and loosen the steering ujoints in the trunk- that is so when you push up on the rack all that linkage has somewhere to go

I have both, both work very well.

Note, you may lose your alignment so check the toe settings before and after.

+1 on T-bar bushings, that is probably the noise you are hearing and you will notice a difference in ride. Bounce on the bumper to see how it rebound,s if okay, leave your shocks alone. My 2 cents.

If you hit a bump like that the steering wheel will still try to turn, quite forcefully depending on alignment, wheel size, and how hard you hit. That's just based on the forces and steering geometry. Even if you have zero bump steer you will still have this force feedback.

Bump steer would be more apparent on smoother bumps I would say.

If your car is not lowered you won't have bump steer issues. Even on my car which is lowered the bump steer really doesn't bother me. Just feels like feedback to me so I can't actually tell what's what.
