You can also get AFR WIFI based gauge that simply sends data to an iPhone.
AEM offers such a gauge, nothing goes on the dash. Just open your iPhone app to see the AFR data. Kind of neat idea that is clutter free in the cockpit.

I can already do wireless AFR to a smartphone with Microsquirt (via bluetooth). I just thought it would be cool to replace the clock with something functional...

I suppose there could be a tach app as well? :-)

I find it more convenient (and safer) to monitor my AEM display (and tach) in real time while watching the road and surrounding traffic obstacles. Attempting that on a smart phone only invites driving hazards and potential cell phone vehicle violations.

to address the loose cig lighter slot, instead of wrapping some electrical tape on the volt meter, i found an o ring that fits over the plastic and inserted it just aft of the spring clips. fits like a charm.

Got a voltmeter integrated into my tach. LOVE it! It looks particularly apropos on my '88 M491 too. Also, cleaned up most of the extraneous icons / markings on the rest of the gauges...

God, a fresh set of gauges really is a beautiful thing. They really are quite a stunning sight to behold, what with all the fresh glass, etc. I work 15 minutes from Palo Alto Speedometer, so had Hartmut there do them up.

They look great. Now you just some LED's for illumination, so you can see them also at night.

Just another option most radar detectors have a voltage meter screen. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1487726388.jpg

For an under-dash voltmeter like THIS, where would you connect it? Back of cigarette lighter? What type of connection?

Splice onto any convenient source wire that activates when the ignition is ON.

Bumping this so newbies will read (like me) as I am wishing I read this two weeks ago before I put a brand new Odessey 925 and boiled it :-(

Luckily it did not bloat and only leaked a little bit of acid...but still a pain in the a$$ to cook a brand new battery.

What is the rating of the zener diode in the VR circuit.

Your tacho should have been erratic. Any symptoms?

yep, on a carrera, you could see an erratic tach, "dimming" dash lights/headlights (actually seeing them go super-bright during overcharge pulses) and/or random seat belt warnings. Smell of sulpher too

No stereo, voltmeter and outside temp gauge.
