CV Axles: Genuine Porsche vs GKN Loebro

I realize that the Genuine Porsche units are made by GKN, but as the BMW world has taught me, OE /= OEM. I've seen quite a few threads with people discussing the poor quality of the races, split boots, and other issues with the GKN branded units. The price difference between the factory CVs and the GKN CVs isn't that great, so my question is this:

Has anyone recently purchased the factory Porsche CV joints, and how did the quality compare to the originals they were removing?

Whatever you buy, you'd be wise to grease them with a quality grease. The grease they put in is a low grade grease and doesn't last all that long. Some folks have seen a new axle come with NO grease!

Good Question,

I removed my factory Axle Assemblies and the GKN are definitely not an exact replacement i.e. bolts were different, cage holder was a tad thicker, OD of axle shaft was thicker. Length was proper. But 2+ years later, absolutely no issues. Just re-torqued for safety 500 miles later.

I'm curious to see if anyone has used the Porsche units, and what their thoughts were.

In BMW world, OEM/Aftermarket CVs are simply awful. 500-10,000 mile replacement intervals are the norm. Factory units are good for 100,000k if fronts, and much longer if rears.
