it will burst when the economy drops again.
not long ago you could not give away a 930. $20-$25k was a nice 930

SInce the Akebono pads are backordered for my BMW(come on Pelican, lets shake a leg, LOL), I have been driving my 1984 Targa to work and back. I am liking it so much that I am seriously contemplating buying a 996(the horror! - Water cooled) for a daily driver.

Bottom line is that the old air cooled cars drive like nothing else ever built. And are no longer being built. These old cars are truly limited production, with a lot of craftsmanship. They should stay expensive for a long time to come.

I've thought the same thing, once the economy takes a crap, all the prices will fall again, and they won't fall to what they were, but they would drop a bit.

'72 & '73 long hood 911s and 993 ('95 - '98) Turbos are commanding the nuttiest prices. There are very few nice examples of 993 Turbos out there for less than $200k. It seems silly but it's supply and demand.

When was the last time you could buy a nice 930 for 20 to 25K ? Not in the 2000's

Don't expect this "bubble" to burst. The meteoric price rises cant continue but I doubt you'll be buying cars at 2011 prices anymore.

I was only kidding about the bubble.....just thought it was funny that everyone thinks it's a bubble and the top of the food chain of air-cooled P-cars was for sale.

mid-90's when I bought my 81, a "driver" 930 was in the mid-higher 20's. Cheapest I remember them. Does not mean it was beat - just not a museum piece.

So this is looking like the deal of the month:

2001 Porsche 911 Twin Turbo AWD

Pretty nice daily hotrod I'd say.

Yeah, the 996 is the deal of the century right now. Great bang for the buck. Too bad they're still ugly.

The 964 was the deal of the century 4 years ago. Now those are getting stupid prices, too.

It'll be funny to me when the 996 starts getting stupid prices.
