Used teatray spoiler purchase...What am I working with here?

I just bought a 930 decklid and teatray spoiler and I'm trying to figure out what I bought. Cosmetically, it seems fine, but there are some parts that don't looks factory. Some of the flanges are tightly riveted, others are loose...I see black silicone around some of the seal...What looks like repair work in a corner...I don't need concours original, but I'd like to have something as solid as I can before putting it on my car.

I do not need the intercooler shrouds, as I have no intercooler. Do the under-louvres go under the screen, or is the screen some vestigial thing? It doesn't seem to be listed in the parts diagram...This is about all I have to go on:

Seems like this is normally held together with screws and funky locknuts...? I go in search of photos...

Aha, it seems the turbos have the mesh grill and the non-turbos have the plates.

19 - grille - 930 51 031 00
20 - grille - 930 512 032 00
(19) - perforated plate - 911 512 231 00
(20) - perforated plate - 911 512 232 00

Does it have the PAG part number on it? It just maybe be an after market.

I had both, OEM and aftermarket, had to modify the aftermarket one and it had the same screen as yours. My OEM as Master Walker wrote had the louvers and rectangular box patterned screen.

No big deal, just get the proper turbo seal, the seams meet in the middle bottom.

The top portion of the tail sits about one inch from the edge of the lid, mark and drill carefully, it is very thin metal.

I would recommend a turbo arm for the right side or weld on a piece of 8 gauge metal to mimic the turbo arm and place a strut there. Your car has a strut holder on the chassis.

Pretty sure it's PAG. Says Porsche on it. I guess I'll have to double-check.

Any chance anyone has some detailed underside shots of a mint tail...?

My concern is that you seem to have a "turbo look" Carrera, no?

That is a Carrera tail? Can't see the rubber in the photos, but your PET shows a proper Turbo tail. The only difference is the rubber lip.

That's a real Porsche original tail from a real Turbo. I have one that is identical, down to the seals, nuts/bolts, rivets and the screen. And yes the Turbo has no "plates/louvers.
Mine is on an '80SC with a 3.6 conversion. I installed a solid black plastic sheet under the screen that filled the space from the bottom up to the AC condenser, to stop rain intrusion
and insure better air flow thru the condenser. This is only necessary if you have a Turbo decklid with the HUGE opening. On a standard decklid, just drill the holes and bolt it on.

I have an '84 M491 that came to me with a fiberglass tail. It also has a 3.6 in it that protrudes ~1cm above the decklid, which prevents me from using a Turbo Look or Carrera decklid/tail combo. I'm also hoping that one day (one day) it will provide space to install an aftermarket condenser.

This is all very helpful. I think my best bet will be to clean it up, fix the loose rivets, make sure nothing rattles, and put it on the car.

Better to install it on the decklid first, or install the decklid on the car first?
