M&K is looking for a '74-'89 911 for R&D

I know this may be the wrong forum to post looking for a 911 but it is absolutely the right forum to find the enthusiast who has the car we are looking for.
We need a driver quality 911 from 1974-1989 to test our exhaust systems. A lot of new ideas are in the works and we need a platform for development.
Wish list is a widebody coupe hotrod.
Engine size and induction does not matter, we will be testing different engines. No collectors, garage queens, or flippers, we need a reasonably priced solid driver. I've been watching the market for some time and know they are out there, just haven't found the right one.
So if you'd like your car to go to a good home where you can watch it sportin' different pipes on the forums give me a holler. Email, PM, or post here if you like.
Thank you!

Good to see research moving forward. Good luck!

Quick question, i have a "5th gen" 2:1. Are generations design changes, or just a way to monitor different production runs?

Hey Mike, good to hear from you!

We continuously review feedback from clients and making revisions to improve our products. Generational changes involve a change in spec such as when a reinforcing panel was added or a slip joint to aid fitment. This 911 will be used to test both revisions and new products.

Ben sold his 911 and bought a 964 to develop that system, I sold my SC and bought a 930 to develop those systems. Market timing is bad to look for a 911 I know but the car we need at a price we can afford is out there. I've let a few go on eBay as I would rather deal with known enthusiasts not flippers or dealers.
So if any of you know someone looking to sell or have something yourself please let me know, thanks!

Brian, would it be possible to share with us what you are working on for the 964. You and I were communicating via email in late November, with regards to a muffler for my car, but I never heard back from you, several emails unanswered. I am still interested in either a muffler, or a complete exhaust with heat.

Or I could just bring my car up and I will beta test the new stuff :-). Save the money on the car to put toward R&D and I get to find a quiet powerful muffler that wont drone. Win Win WIn

I've used several local-ish cars for testing the last few years but I really need one long term that I can make many changes to and then test those changes long term. One example is an active exhaust system I developed for the 930. I have been testing and improving that system off and on for over 5 years. Finally I have a system that is robust enough to survive turbo heat and sound exactly the way it needs to.

CRQ - please contact me concerning the 964 system. It was completed long ago but Ben sold his 964 and I have not found one local to continue the long-term testing. We have several out in the field now and the owners like them.

Examples of what we need to test are a full race system that uses a muffler for the quiet track rules and the ever elusive dual inlet dual outlet drone free muffler. There are some really exiting products in the wings.

Now somebody sell me a driver 911!

I worked with Ben on creating the first 1-in-1-out Carrera muffler (I still think the longer can is better than shorter, motor revs quicker), why not do the same with UPS back and forth, maybe facetime could help.

I need to see it hear it experience it myself and make changes. Can't do that long distance, wish you could. Every new product is tested for months before release to the public. Long term testing lasts years. One set of headers is in year 7 now.

I wish I had a runner to work with you on this, sounds fun and interesting. I did not sell my 87 track car project which is fortunate. Now the $$ have gone crazy on the g50 cars. My plan is to do a backdate to a 73RS with a close to stock 3.2 (cams/chip/SSI) but that is some time off as the bodywork is extensive. I really miss my first 911, a 72E RS look so this will be similar but heavier. We are selling/moving over your way in the spring so who knows. We need to lure Mike back to Hunt. and get Trackolocis going again!

Hey David, yes I miss the old Trackaholics lunch as well. Maybe one of those guys has an old track car they are ready to part with.
I'm not looking for a G50 car, just a simple 915 with anything from 2.4L to 3.6L engine. Chassis can be anything from 1974-1989. It is imperative that the car be able to use the stock rear bumper so we can verify fitment using stock bumpers and valances. I have several engines and transmissions so a roller is a possibility as well.
Last year I sent our prototype race system out of state for static dyno testing. Those results were used to tweak the system, the next step being road testing. The 964 system needs more testing as well. Fitment is proven so the bumper is not an issue, I want to play with the sound.

I appreciate that Ken and may take you up on it. Beta testing is about all I can do using someone else's car as R&D can involve cutting and welding in place, which is not a good idea using any other car than my own.

Lots of prospects but no purchase yet.

How about a widebody coupe roller? I've got a drive train so that might work. Anybody out there have a project they are no longer interested in?

Brian - is one of your projects a set of HEs with longer length primaries to accentuate mid-range torque of 3.2-3.6 street motors? You've mentioned it over the past couple of years.

Yes one of our projects are long tube headers for Carrera street engines. Now may finally be the time to produce them as the value of the Carrera's is increasing to the point they may grow into the cost of these headers. Price point was the problem as the market is saturated with cheap headers.
