'74 IROC clone question
I've been toying with the idea to make a IROC clone. It helps shed some weight off my SC and gets me that race car feel I've always wanted. So I'm looking for some inspiration here. Can you help me out with 2 things?
1. Were there any black IROC cars originally? I haven't seen a picture of any but it doesn't mean it didn't exist. 2. If you have a recreation Id love to see your interior. I love to drive my car and other than pulling out the AC I'm not sure what other comforts I'd be willing to do without. Thanks for the help!

Leave your interior as it is - looks fine unless you are after a very detailed replica.
As for other examples of black IROC look cars - here is mine! ![]()

Hey...going down a similar path with my 77 coupe.
1) Yes- In the first season of IROC 3 of the 4 races were held at Riverside George Follmer drove the #4 black car at some point. Bobby Allison drove it too, but these pics show it as the #16 car. I am thinking this was during testing at Riverside as this car lacks the driver ID sticker on the door. See attached pics. ![]() ![]() The Minichamps models show it as a Follmer #4 car. ![]() But that was IROC back then. Drivers changed cars, stuff got wrecked and repainted. Made it kind of tough to ID cars and their drivers from race to race. 2) The interiors are stripped down and caged. I doubt you would want to deal with it as a DD or even weekend fun car. I won't be going that far with mine. Let me know what you find out about the original IROC mirror. Can't seem to determine the make and model. And BTW, the IROC cars came form the factory with ducktails. (See pic). But they were swapped for early turbo-like tails upon arrival at Riverside. My IROC tribute will quack. ; ) ![]()

Guessing the factory '73 RSR seat as that (and the RS cars) were the bases for the IROC. So this seat below or something very similar The pics above seem to confirm it was a low back (no head rest) seat.
![]() FYI, seat position was the only thing the drivers were allowed to change. The cars were on lock down otherwise.

That lollipop was not a standard seat. The low back bucket was the only seat available in the IROC cars and as others have mentioned - it was the only thing that was adjustable.
