Angry Fuel injection manifold nut cyl-6. Difficult!

Hi all, just wondering if anyone has a way of doing up the injection manifold nut on cyl-6, the one closest to the centre of the car. I've tried a few different spanners sockets etc, still takes me about 40 minutes.:

What year engine? CIS? Usually a quarter inch drive extension with a swivel connector works for me.

On my 3.2 I used a short allen socket with a swivel. These don't require a lot of torque (13 ft lbs IIIRC) Mine are barrel nuts. You say you used a spanner of some sort which would indicate to me yours are not. If you have hex nuts on the manifold, just get a crows foot wrench to fit.

Thanks, it's a 1977/2.7lt...7r motor. Are you able to get the socket on, coming from the back of the engine. Eg front of car?

You got 16 posts, we don't know what kind of car you have other than a 911, but what year? They are different.

On both my SC and Carrera, one of these will work:

1. An allen socket, on a swivel or a wobble extension,
2. An allen socket that has a ball end.

Best of luck.

vanilla,

These are the sockets I use for hard to reach fasteners specially the ones for the intake runners. These are 3/8" drive sockets and the 1/4"-drive would work too.

Tony, will a regular 12mm socket on a swivel adapter do the job too?

I don't think the regular socket plus a swivel adaptor are short enough to get under the intake runner for #6. If I remember correctly before I have these sockets that I grinded a standard socket down to shorten it with a regular universal joint adaptor. Give it a try. Your tool might get the job done.

These sockets are used a lot during an engine assembly and disassembly. The ability to reach those fasteners in odd locations makes the job easy and fun. Keep an assortment of special tools and you will enjoy the work with gusto.

Cool thanks for the advice. I'll grab a 12mm one of those.

I want to do my injector seals so if the sleeve pulls out I was planning to pull the runner if possible so I'm not dropping anything into the intake especially if I have to dremel the stakes down.
