Do you have H4 lamp assemblies on your car?
Post a photo.

No, the H4 lens, by itself, will not fit as a bolt-on replacement to a US 1977 911. The H4 system is a complete bolt-in unit. You have to remove the US sealed-beam unit, complete with its mount, and replace it with the H4. The H4 fits a 55W or 100W bulb.

Also, the H4 euro lens is asymmetric, providing light angled up on the right side. The later H4 for US lens is not asymmetric.

you can, however, replace your 7" sealed beam bulb assembly with a 7" round h4 bulb assembly (our host doesn't seem to sell the e-code hellas any more? -- see, e.g. Amazon.com: HELLA 002395991 7" H4 Type Single High/Low Beam Headlamp: Automotive) they gave me FAR better light than my 7" sealed beams did, but only cost a fraction the 911-specifc housings -- be sure to buy a headlight relay from our hosts -- I've been happy with high (80/100w) wattage bulbs.

Our host sell them -- 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa - Lights and Lenses - Page 3

Note the other parts you need for EACH headlight : Also use (Qty.) (1) 900 631 103 90 bulb, (1) H-4 Bulb, If updating to painted headlight rim, also use (Qty.) (1) 911 631 141 00 rim, (1) 911 631 033 00 screw, (1) 911 631 132 00 screw.

You'd either need to get the paintable headlight rims above and get them painted to match, or enjoy the chrome rims that come with the headlights linked above (and that the paintable trim rings cover up)

Don't forget that you will also need H4 sockets. And especially if you go to up-rated bulbs, relays are all but mandatory - if you run that much additional current through the headlamp switch it is likely to fail soon. Get the Jwest kit sold by our host as recommended above, and it is also a good time to clean your fuses and contacts well.

The sealed beam sockets are the same as H4 sockets, no socket change is needed for a '77.
