Troubleshooting power mirrors

Both of my mirrors quit working at the same time. Best I can tell the fuse is good. It appears the same fuse is used for the heater blower, which still works.

Now what? I assume the next thing to check is the joy stick switch on top of the door. How does that come out?

Any other guidance would be appreciated!

What about the selector switch that is on the dash. On my 80SC it allows you to select which mirror is to be adjusted.

Glad this came up. Where the wiring goes through the base into the main mirror part, there is a threaded guide through which the wiring goes. This guide holds the two pieces together. It's stripped.
I ordered a new one, but does anyone know how to put the wiring through there? I can't figure out where the wiring is joined into the rest of the loom, and the stuff inside the mirror appears to be soldered...

Not sure if your wiring will be the same as mine but try tracing the purple/black wire from (I think) fuse 14. Check there is continuity from fuse area to joystick. To get to joystick unscrew 2 philips heads that hold door top in place and remove the door top. The loom pulls away from the switch. If there isn't continuity then a broken connection is likely (either wire broke or pulled out of connector block in luggage area where it goes into the wing).
Hope this helps
