trouble at shutdown
Everyonce in a while when I shut my car down it wants to "run on" or deisel just a bit. Does this sound like a timing issue, or could there be other concerns? It is an 84 to 86 fuel injected motor. (just bought the car unsure of all the facts yet.

I'm going to resist the temptation to make conclusions I am not completely sure of, but here are the facts: I have never, ever heard of a CIS engine doing this (your systems is Motronic, which is also a fuel injection system) and I expect I never will. It is virtually impossible. For a CIS system to diesel, the fuel pump would have to continue running after the key is shut off. If you pull the fuel pump relay out of a CIS car while it is running, the engine will die just as if you shut the key off. No coughing or sputtering, no delay. It will just instantly quit.
Those are the facts. Motronic may be different.

if very dirty/carbon on exhaust valves it's not impossible for this to happen..if very high compression readings a couple of tanks of Techron may help..I don't have any experience w/your injection system..but Widebody had a few leaking injectors that was detected with an oil analysis............Ron
