Show Me Your Oil Cooler (Front & Fender) Mount Fabrication
Along with the 3.6 install I'm doing, I'm going to need to mount a couple of coolers on my 69T. It has an RSR front bumper and flare. The car hasn't had a fender mount or a front mount since I've had it.
I have hard lines to the front fender, A Setrab cooler and an RX7 Cooler that's been AN Adapted. The current plan is to mount the Setrab in the Fender and the RX 7 in the front, in series. I would love to see pics of the fabrication you did to mount your cooler. I don't have a welder at the moment, but I could probably get one. If there are already built setups, please point me in the right direction for the brackets. Thanks!

Since I happened to have some pictures on my work computer...
I took a Setrab cooler originally intended to go in the fender, cut off two of the mounting tabs, bought some fittings, brackets and hoses from Chuck at Elephant Racing and mounted it in my front bumper opening. Pretty straightforward and very low budget (from a fabrication standpoint) but it works great. Obviously I did not cut the tub behind the cooler for better airflow, etc. and it has been perfectly fine. Oil temps are shockingly cool. The last picture is about as high as the oil temp gets during ~90F outside temps as long as the car is moving... ![]() ![]() ![]()

A few pics of cooler mounting - function over beauty
Welded in bracket on driver side - fabricated center bracket - curved body behind center cooler. Air flow ducting is essential. Don't use fine mesh screen for air duct holes - need 1/4" or 1/2" just to keep the big rocks out. Regards, Roy T ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

The early cars don't have big bumpers so not much room for a front cooler. Here is how I added a gigantic one to my 73.
Here is the build thread. Oil cooler starts on post # 210 Saving a 73 from the crusher... ![]() ![]() ![]()

You could always fit a standard oil cooler to the crankcase ...

Retro fitted an on engine oil cooler to my 964 3.6 transplant motor. That, along with a standard Carrera front oil cooler/fan, the oil temp on a 90+ deg day stays in the 200 deg range. (200-210 worst case)
