The shop is always busy and most people that have had work done are happy with the cost of the repairs. They don't treat a Porsche as a exotic car, and since they sell the parts at a good price you don't get the bump on parts that shop's charge.
I know they advertise a rebuilt 3.0 for under 4K but dont know of anyone who was done one with them.

red..Vertex is great on my previous dealings with them.. but I'd use Competition Engineering, if you love your 911, for a class act... Ron

I would go local. If you have a probem it would be a pain.

I had a Vertex rebuilt 915 gear box and when I had a problem, they STOOD behind their products. That is the only one looks for in a rebuild. Great shop. Go for it. Or, do your own rebuild.

yea they quoted me "about 3k" for rebuilding my tired 2.2 baring that nothing was broken inside the enging, its gonna be a few(a lot) of months before im at that point in my restoration so hopefuly someone will try them first and report back, they do have very good prices on parts.

What are they talking about doing for 3k? If that is a crankshaft-up rebuild price, I'd be very afraid.
I'd recommend you talk to Jim Elliason. He owns European Performance in Raleigh and has been quietly building 911 engines for years now. His work is without par on the east coast, and he has Competition Engineering do all machine work. Call him at 851.5084 and tell him I sent you.

I can also vouch for Vertex. I've been dealing with them for about 12+ years and never had a problem. If you are considering them I'd ask for a breakdown of parts and services included for the price. Also warranty info.
