Back date heat, how about back date air?

Back dating the heat seems to be a really popular mod for the later 911's, I'd sure like to source some side window frames with the vent wings for my SC. It's HOT down here! Has anybody made that mod? Edit: SC coupe.

I saw that someone posted a pic of that mod lately. Might have been on a Targa though.

What about pop-out rear quarter windows?

I've got the pop our rear quarter windows in my 69 912 coupe, but alas it also has the fixed front corner windows. I don't remember the rear pop outs doing a lot of interior cooling going down the road.

My friend the "all things Porsche knowledge base guru" says all 911 coupes 69 and up have the fixed vent windows, 68 is a one year only aluminum window frame subject to being bent over the years so he suggests going all the way back to 67 and those frames *should probably* fit an SC.

You'd think just replacing the hardware of a vent wing type window in the existing window frame would be do-able?

To add vent wings on a coupe, you probably want the window frames from a '68 coupe. Later don't have opening wings, earlier are chromed brass rather than the aluminum of the later cars. Be warned, your SC glass has a slight green tint, many of the '68 and earlier cars had clear glass, so finding the proper tinted glass can be quite tough as well. And then if your SC has black trim, you'll need to either paint or re-anodize the aluminum frame to match. So it can be done, and has been done before. But it's not as easy to find the parts to do it right.

If your car is a targa, it's easier to find the parts you need, as targas still got opening vent wings much later, through '76-77 or so.
