Great boyfriend and I did this on that same autoban someone else was on... I think we were following.SmileWavy

140 In a 1990 M5 when I hit the rev limiter in 4th gear. 135 in the P-car.
|
110mph
I did that in my bug on Bias ply tires, never again, had a 2600cc
|
165MPH in my 930 on George Bush Tollway (Dallas Tx)
In my younger "DEATH WISH" days: 192mph in a Deavers blown fuel hydro (Waco Tx) 160mph in a 36' Skater offshore racing boat(Florida Keys) |
On my scooter I once saw 135. My 911 only goes to 85. Must have governor or something. ;)
I find going fast on the flats somewhat boring. I much prefer twisties. |
155 (indicated) in a 1985 5.5 Litre Trans Am - way back when.
Just had the 930 up to 155 indicated - but my speedo is way off. I also use a Garmin III+ and it had me at 143. Had a lot left - but I got scared of hitting a deer on the country road  {NAME DELETED} to protect the guilty '79 930 |
I'd wager that Rob's pic was taken on the Columbia River gorge, on I-84. In that Oregon 65 mph zone mentioned earlier.
|
I hit 57 mph on my Moots road bicycle.
|
145 in Northern Michigan, with my mother-in-law in the passenger seat and my nephew in the back.
They loved it. |
Indicated speeds:
157 Kawasaki riding backseat (once... never, ever again) 147 70 Roadrunner 383 3 dueces 145 72 Corvette 454 0-145-0 930 Porsche is less time than I thought possible 160 Pantera 135 Opel Gt 70 on Sears 10 speed bicycle hanging on to a car 130 72 deathtrap chevy work truck with 327 120+- VW sandrail (in the dirt, 1-3 mostly on back wheels) but only to 100 once in the 911. Must be getting old. and all this on horrible 2 lane blacktop Louisiana roads. I must have had a deathwish. |
terminal velocity 930 I-40 tn / nc line. 3 am no traffic . would not look down 154 155 ish
rev limiter 2000 e 4matic wagon. smoother/safer with more to go. |
180 mph on the banking of Michigan International Speedway in a 993TT with Hurley Haywood showing me what to do. Funny it wasn't the straighline speed that got me, but how fast I had to slow down for the hairpin at turn 1.
Same car and a GT3 at the Firehawk test track in Texas. One big honkin oval. This time with David Murray. Later in the day I looped the GT3 on the road course (yikes wasn't my car!). David was very cool about it though. Countless time on racing sport bikes 100+. But a few years ago lost a frontend going down the hill at Road Atlanta, separated my shoulder and the bike in a thousand pieces. So I determined I needed vehicles with 4 wheels and a roll cage. 130ish in a SRF. Funny I have only had the SC to 100 (not telling where) but no track time yet. |
134 mph indicated somewhere in Nebraska many moons ago ... had to back off and pull over when a large flapping / slapping sound eminated from the Targa top. It seems the lift created over the Targa roofline is enough to pull weakened vinyl loose from its attachments and let it unfurl it all its glory!!
Luckily it was only the trailing edge ... I can just picture the mess I would have had if the front edge let go and I had a black "parasail" trying to pull my roof off at 100mph+! Cheers, |
tryan was that on the twisties on I40?... I got worried at 85 in a Grand cherokee on that section... you're insane!
|
When I lived in Germany I would hit 255 kph on a daily basis traveling from Koeln to Oberursel (just above Frankfurt) in a Saab 9-5. It would have gone faster had it not been for the limiter.
I can't tell you how nervous I was passing the Polizei at the speed (of course in a "free driving" zone). :D :D :D BTW - the "free drive zone" road sign is my personal favorite roadsign. Anyone have a pic? (white background, grey circle with three grey slashed through the middle.) |

I get the wussy award. I've only had my 911 up to 90. For what it's worth, that was redline in 3rd. Plenty of car left.

62 mph on my Cannondale road bike this summer on our Tuesday night ride with about 30 other cyclists. I actually was drafting a guy on a Moots ! At those speeds you pray you dont have a blow-out ! |
200mph on pit straight at Pocono (IMSA course) in a 935 clone, 143 on the same straight in my 69.
200mph was eye opening  |
