99mph Fiat Punto
125mph-ish 3.2 Carrera Cabrio - roof down with two buddies :) 150mph Fiat Coupe 20 valve turbo ~145mph in shorts and t-shirt from 13,000ft down to 4,000ft- woo-ha! |
200+ mph, no enclosures, head-down, balls-to-the-wall, powered by nothing but gravity! Typical summer weekend at the Dropzone.

Kurt,
Okay, Maybe it was only 130 in the Opel. My sister had one and also my drinking buddy. and then there was my other friend's Opel Gt with full rollcage, slicks and blower sticking thru the hood, blocking any kind of view out the windshield. Chevy V8 of course. hehehe not exactly street legal |
155mph in 8.84s from a standing start, friends car what a rush I got in trouble for running that fast without a competition license, the parachute jerked me against the harness wow! My drag car 130ish. I've had the P-car past 130 but I wasn't looking real close probably 135 or so indicated. I'll say this much compared to skinny fronts and 12psi in the rear slicks of the drag car the P-car feels like a Sunday drive above 100.

That wasn't me. It was Carlos in Spain. HERE'S A MOVIE OF IT.
His left indicator warns oncoming traffic. The fastest I've been up to is about 150 mph on I-5 between Burlington and Bellingham. Here's TT doing 210 mph http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/996T@210.jpg |
I presently have the unofficial Louisiana land speed record for a comfy chair. Tops out at maybe 15 in 5th. Gearing upgrades in the near future (Mardi Gras) should set a new record... Sorry, no pictures of the speedometer at top speed yet.

About 120 mph in the Targa, with the top off, naturally. |
130mph in the Porsche
Speedgunned @ 196mph on an airstrip in the UK on a 998 P&M Kawasaki, head down ( aerodynamics ) count to three lift head and prepare for end of runway! 196 without looking more proof that a brain only inhibits the thrills. Cheers Mark.... |
Indicated about 145 on an uphill stretch of four-lane after getting fed up with being pestered by a couple of boys in a max-rice Prelude who thought they had something. I say 145 but it could have been 143 or 148. When I backed out of it, the Carrera seemed to be saying "wait! I wasn't done yet!". I was more concerned with how quickly I was running out of real estate! And, oh yes, by then the Prelude was only a memory!

Approx. 16 mph up a deer trail in the western cascades on an early 70's vintage 175cc Yamaha dirt bike. Haulin' butt! That's faster, in it's own way, and takes as much concentration, as 150 on a deserted highway. Speed itself is relative....just ask our resident F-18C pilot...
|
I'm guessing GeorgeM our Tomcat buddy will have top honors for max knots, I've only seen about 1.42 Mach in my Hornet. Of course speed is relative, coming into the overhead break at the ship at 600kts is a handful, as is dodging tall cows in the desert of Nevada. In my cars I've seen 130 in my old 87 Carrera, my old 72S Targa about 125, and after bolting on my primer gray, still not perfect S bumper to my 70E, 110 yesterday afternoon.

An indicated 310KM/h on the Autobahn in the (at the time) new V12 427HP S class Mercedes limousine.

I've redlined in 3rd and maxed out at about 90mph. In theory, would I be doing 150 maxed out in 5th or is there a slope off in speed?
|
130 mph on HWY 50 between Chinquapen and Holly Ridge. What a ride!!!!
