DME relay draining battery or coincidence?

I replaced the DME relay in my '84 Targa after the original (date stamp 1984) finally failed (no power to fuel pump) about a month ago. I have only had the opportunity to drive every couple of weeks lately and since replacing the relay the battery has been dead each time (twice . This had not been a problem previously

Could something be wrong with the relay or is this just coincidence? Just checked the battery and looks like it is from '03 so I guess I should replace in any event.........

Hopefully it is a coincidence, but to make sure it isn't the relay, check that the ICV isn't vibrating when the engine is off.

OK, new battery in. I checked for parasitic draw at the battery and I am reading nothing on the multimeter.

I am not skilled at multimeter use but have been reading the posted threads and figured out my fuse was defective. After new fuse, I get appr. 0.75 amps when I turn the dome light on or the hood light but nothing when they are off.

I switched my multimeter to the milliamp settings according to instructions and still get 0.00. Shouldn't at least my clock show some draw at the milliamp setting?

Cheers,
Scott

You do have the meter in series with the negative cable and post at the battery, correct?
That means cable disconnected and red lead on Negative post, black lead on isolated ground strap.

Yes, just like you describe. I had an amperage reading (0.74 amps) when I left the hood light on, but when I disconnected the hood light there was nothing, I expected to see a little bit (maybe 40 milliamps) for the clock (it works), but there was nothing!
