Just pulled calipers. Can I soak them?
I just pulled the front calipers on my 930 for a re-build (new seals). They are a mess (grease mixed with brake dust).
Can I drop the whole caliper (with pistons still in) into a bucket of warm water and Simple Green then scrub with an old toothbrush? Will this cause any damage? I don't want to use ten cans of brake cleaner on them. For one, it is a mess (just splatters everywhere), second of all - it smells up the garage. Suggestions?

You won't hurt anything. But the simple green may not take off the brake dust.
Maybe do the simple green bath to remove the bulk, then finish with brakleen.
