I replaced the Perma-Tune ignition unit and re-installed the battery. Jumped in and turned the car over...it did not fire right away as it was sitting for some time....however when I let go of the key the electrical stayed on... lights...fuel pump (the pump kept feeding fuel and it was everywhere...I had to disconnect the battery. Could this be an ignition switch issue or would something with the Perma-Tune unit cause this. Thank you for your time! |

Not the Permatune. Likely the switch sticking, coupled with the fuel relay not operating correctly as the safety shut off didn't work.
There is a single brown with black marks wire near the rear 14 pin connector at the rear fuse panel, that needs to be plugged in to the engine harness wire that is marked the same, for the safety system to work. This is assuming the air flow sensor switch is connected behind the air flow plate area. In the meantime pull the fuel pump relay to test and repair the ignition switch.
