911 S C Targa Dashboard

I understand there is a guy in Anaheim who does a wonderful job of rebuilding porsche dashboards. Does anybody know who he is?

Just Dashes: Welcome To Just Dashes
Contacted them recently to inquire about having a 1974 911 dash re-skined.
Was quoted about $1K and a 10 week turnaround!
Passed.

Mine was bad.... Went with a dash cap as a temporary fix. Best $90 I have spent on the car!

Purists may scoff but I think it's far better than looking at several cracks.

Shameless plug, but we repair and recover dashes, at much less than the Just Dashes cost and a lot faster too. If you search here you will find some threads from some Pelicans who are our customers. PM or email me for info and some more pictures.

Just picked up my dash from George at AIR. Couldn't be happier with the quality or the price ( about 1/2 the price noted above). AIR will need your air vent to build it properly.

George,
Do you folks do the '74 dashes with the removable speaker?
Thanks,
Tony

Tony,
We can and do recover the 69-75 dash with the separate speaker grill. A badly damaged speaker grill is difficult to repair with perforations, but we have several options including fabricating a new grill with perforations to match. Fabricating a new grill with the perforations adds to the cost, as it is very time consuming, but still very cost effective relative to some other options. Email or PM me for more details. Here are some before and after photos of a dash we did for a customer where we fabricated a new grill.

George... nice work. Am curious if you can do dash without sewing into the crevice?

We have found that without the stitched seam in the area, the material will lift rather quickly over this ridge. So while we can do it, we don't since the repair doesn't look right within a few months.

George

Do you sell the cover by itself. Shipping the dash from Puerto Rico back and forward will increase the price considerable. Let me know.

Thanks
Ivan

Ivan,
Every dash is slightly different, and typically requires repair work in addition to recovering. There are also a few tricks to stretching the material around the eyebrow to make it lay flat around the complex curves without an additional stitch in this area (a lot of recovered dashes done by others have a French stitch along the eyebrow). Since these all involve custom work, we don't sell the vinyl or leather alone. While FedEx and UPS can be quite expensive to Puerto Rico, we have found that the US Mail can be more cost effective, even for priority or express mail packages. PM or email me and I would be happy to discuss more to see what we can do for you.
Thanks
George

82SC Dash

After reading this thread and seeing the beautiful work done by AIR (George) I jumped aboard and called him. It was about 3 weeks from call/ship to receipt and I am very pleased with the workmanship and the cost. I'm keeping my car so I might not need his services again but I heartily recommend his shop and would do it again. My restorer (Finn's Restorations) has been asking for the dash so my gamble on timing worked out well. Thanks George. I have to shrink my photos before I can post them.

I'm right there too. I want to have ours recovered due to three major cracks. Although I have no other reason to remove the front windshield for the repair. I guess I will wait until the car is down for a major. In the meantime, I like the way your cap looks.

How is it held in place?
