Car goes off to the shop

So Bruce came and picked the car up on Friday. Here it is headed out to Nash County.

I drove out there today and learned some very interesting things... this engine does not appear to be what it was advertised as. The saga continues.

have Bruce take a pic of magnets hanging from upper and lower studs when done. is great documentation if you ever sell that you have all steel.

Well, first a little history. The car was sold to me, with documentation, that the car had a 1987 Carrera 3.2 engine rebuilt to Euro specs with high compression. Not true.
When we opened it up, we found a turbo case and crank from a 1989 930. The case has been chipped a bit, as you can see.

So that was a bit of a surprise. The cylinders do not appear to be Euro cylinders, but we need to do a visual check with a cylinder that is verified to be a US part. This info is making me more and more tempted to do the single plug 3.4.

Main bearings look good...

It also turns out that the engine mount and crossbar are from a Cab. So I'll be looking for a coupe mount. Also a Carrera heat box. If you've got any of those things for sale, please PM me.
