Beeps once and won't start

My 2000 911 sometimes will beep once when I lock it with my key. When it does this, the car won't start. When the key is turned, all the lights light up on the dashboard but nothing happens. In about a minute, it will eventually start. I also can get back out of the car and unlock with the key and the car will then start. Any idea what is going on? I need to replace the battery in the fob and/or get a new key from Porsche so the keyless entry will work.

Welcome! You might be better served posting your question in the 996 forum here. It's just us air cooled guys and gals in here, so I don't know that we'd be of much help.

There is something in this thread about "waking up" the security system if the car has been sitting for several days. You need to have the key fob working though.

2000 carrera: security system..car wont start..trunk..driven
