Widebody tail options

I'm buying a 1982 911 with a widebody conversion and have always been more fond of the Carrera whale tail opposed to the Turbo tea tray spoiler. The early turbo cars actually had a whale type profile but I think those tails were still much larger than the Carrera tail.

Anyway, looking for photos showing a widebody car with various tails so I can decide what I want to do. Google image search doesn't show a whole lot other than the typical tea tray spoiler or the early whale tail spoilers.

If anyone has a photo of a widebody car with a Carrera whale tail, duck tail, etc. please post.

Oh, also looking for ideas on replacing the "turbo" script from the deck lid with something else. How do the individual PORSCHE letters look on an impact bumper car?

Thank you

Just my personal opinion, but I think the individual letters on the deck would look redundant with the reflector panel.

You could go RSR / IROC tail.. shaped like a whale tail but more aggressive looking. Works well with turbo body flares.

They've all been tried.. "search" is your friend!

I still prefer the '75 to '77 Turbo tail over the rest and would be period correct for an '82 911.

Looks like the duckies are in the lead.

Wide arse and duck does look good doesn't it? I think the small tail does a better job showing off the wide body. Doesn't overwhelm like the monster tea tray spoiler does.

No simple Carrera tails on a widebody?

Here is Steve McQueen's 1976 930 with the tail I mentioned:

This looks better than a Ducktail and is much more period correct for 1982 SC.

I know an excellent neuro-ophthalmologist; let me know if you would like his office number (you too, Rod)!

PS for Rod - Mir or Arlovski? Tough to predict considering both old men are on rejuvenated rolls of late . . .

Ronnie,

It's clear that a duck tail adds horsepower. Those cars simply look fast. I think I am leaning toward the early period correct tail that winders posted. I like the duck, but I also like the whale tails too. Tough to have these kind of decisions to make!

Ronnie, I dont know what you have against a ducktail on a wide body. It brings out those hips!
For the fight I'm going Mir, but I think it will be a good one.

Yes it does, and in orange no less. Love that color in the long hood variety.

Makes me want to backdate mine...........how much is that endeavor on a widebody car?
