Post Anyone know hoe to fix a sideview mirror?

Car:85 carrera w/ stock "flag" power mirrors
problem: driver's side mirror is rotating freely on its' base and will not stay put.

I frequently fold the driver's mirror after parking in my garage(it's tight). I must have worn or broken something but I can't tell what. I can now wiggle it right up and off the base as far as the wires will allow. What I see is what I would call a "cam riser" on the base with a threaded shaft in the middle. Anyone have any idea how to fix it?

You need to take the mirror off the door;
1. Remove the glass
2. Remove the motor assembly (3 bolts)
3. Disconnect the harness pins from the
connector, you will need a snap-on
tool for this. MAKE A NOTE where the
pins are located in the connector.
4. Loosen, but do not remove the allen
bolt in the mirror base until you can
remove the mirror from the door.
5. Pull the mirror carefully away, feeding
the wiring through.
6. With the mirror on the bench, unscrew
the bi-hex bolt that holds the mirror
to the base. Note there is a spring
in there.
7. Check the condition of the two plastic
bushes at either end of the spring, if
damaged; replace. You will have to get
them from a Porsche dealer.
8. Loctite and refit the screw.
9. Put is all back together and check the
operation of the motor and heating
element.

The fastener resembles the male portion of the door panel attachment. (Crude description )
That portion is on the glass. There is a female socket in the mirror assembly.

Stop by an auto glass shop and pick one of their seal installing tools. Fiber gizmo, with blades and both ends. Nice for prying delicate stuff. Interior and glass.

Good Luck
