From what I've seen, it appears that the Cayenne will be too small/light to do effective and safe towing. It doesn't look any bigger than my Pathfinder, which at about 4500 lbs is a bit scary to tow a 1400 lbs trailer and a 3000 lbs car with...

The tow capacity on either version is about 7,500- 7,700 which is 1,200 more than the '02 Range Rover and '03 Lexus Lx 470.
Personally I don't care for the tow "trucks", ie. Expedition, Escalade, Yukon, etc. I want something more managable in size and comfortable to drive in the city. Looks like the Cayenne will be a perfect fit. I am just going to wait to see how they run for a year before I pick one up.

I think if Porsche advertised the Cayenne like that, it would lessen the bitterness many people have towards Porsche for abandoning its' roots.
I still prefer the VW version, esp if the V-10 tdi were offered in the US.

![]() In all seriousness, I tow with an '00 Jeep Cherokee. A 1000 lb aluminum trailer (Trailex) and a 2300 lb car make it a pretty easy tow. Not ideal, granted, but it works reasonably safely (weight positioned properly over axles and on tongue, etc).

With that engine size and stiff suspension, that car will have no problem towing any car/trailer combination.
