I recently attend a lapping day with the "fast and furious". I must say I was very impressed with variety of cars. From a design stand point, I was impressed. Lots of bang for the buck. I followed a fairly stock civic around for a while and would bet it would have out handled every stock SC I've seen.

Not always "all show, no go".

A couple of weeks ago at a PCA DE event a little CRX held off a fully boogy race '63 big block 'vette untill the final two laps - when he blew his clutch. VERY impressive driving. The vette would quickly climb up on him in the straights only to be blown away in the corner. Talked with the 'vette owner, he simply couldn't believe it.

Looking in from the outside, it can be difficult to distinguish the good from the bad, in this crowd. Japanese import cars can be modified to function as potent track cars and straight-line racers at reasonable cost. They can also be dressed up with a lot of showy garbage for the teenage set. Sometimes, you get a mixture of both in the same car.

You want to chuckle at all the energy put into the adolescent-mating-ritual-modifications on these cars. But then you look over at some of the women in the passenger seats, and you have to acknowledge that it seems to be working. (Us: "Sorry, honey, I know I promised that my friends and I wouldn't use the oven for powdercoating parts. I'll get everything moved back to the garage by tomorrow." Them: "Baby, look at that. You got yourself a thong that matches the color of my brake calipers. That's hot.")

Cool

Here's some german rice:

Since the basis for this car is a 944 it's not an "all show but no go", but due to it's tasteless looks it still qualifies as a ricer in my opinion.

That's a shame. I actually like the super-aggressive front end (I am an admittedly tacky guy). But that entire tail section needs to go. Yuck !!

Appearances are not reliable. I have never been out-accelerated (short drag races, you know) by a car with a HUGE tack on the front post. I love saying that but it's only a matter of time.

There are 9-second Hondas out there.
