Studs on bottom front edge of front hood
There are two 6mm studs on the bottom front edge of the hood on my 74 911 which hold the upper portion of the hood release/latch in place. I have broken on of those studs off, and a small piece about 7 or 8 mm is still standing proud of where it was welded to the hood.
Have any of you had this problem, and if so, how did you fix it?

Oh my, that would be welding via body work sorry to write. Did you use some penetrating spray before removal or was it rust welded?

I would grind the broken stud flat then drill and tap into the broken stud. Use JBweld on the replacement stud threads. I did this on a floor stud for the wood pedal board, and it worked
well. Just go slow with your drill and get the new hole in the center of the broken stud with the correct angle. Rob |
