Plug gap

My 1969 has a delta mk cdl ignition on it. When I first got the car I changed the plugs and gapped them to the factory spec of .025. I recently found out about the delta cdi ignition, the spark gap for it is .040. My question is will the spark gap make a big difference? Should I pull the plugs and regap or would I be wasting my time?

Bigger gap means more spark means better combustion, assuming the Delta unit is in top form, the capacitors can and do lose effectiveness over time
