Last weekend I was finally able to pick up my 3.3 Turbo motor for my project. I also picked up a 915 tranny. The id follows:
915/63 12 74 D 2565 Please help id ! It was represented as a 915 out of a 78 SC w/ factory LSD. Thanks boys. Rich |

looks like a 80/81 the only difference between the 78/79 is a modified 2nd gear ratio. LSD could of been added later though.

The 'D' code means it is an '83 production year trans, and the '12' means ZF limited slip was fitted at the factory ... to the USA version 5-speed.

Rich,
Overall ratios 915/63 930/34 1 12.33 9.50 2 6.89 5.51 3 4.88 3.77 4 3.88 2.63 5 3.18 First is lower, 2nd & 3rd in the 915 'stradle the 930's second gear, 4th gear is only slightly lower than the 930's third gear, and 5th gear is lower than top gear in the 930 ... meaning that top speed will probably rpm-limited, not power limited! All-in-all, a 'close-ratio' box for the 3.3, and plenty of fun to drive, in my opinion! ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa 1992 Dodge Dakota 5.2 4X4 parts hauler [This message has been edited by Early_S_Man (edited 10-06-2001).] |
