Im not sure if its the "right" official tool, but I used a motorcycle shock wrench similar to this one.

I don't know what the tool number is but it looks pretty much like a motorcycle shop tool. It's pictured in the factory manuals.

Just buy a motorcycle shop tool of the correct size. They are easy to find and cheap.

I think the $20 moto shock tool is called "(universal) preload adjuster"

I can easily envision this thing slipping out of the slot, just like a screwdriver.

Have somebody help you, then. One to hold the washer, one to tighten the nut.

Channellocks worked to hold the washer in place while I torqued it down to 58lbs.


I installed the new single bore mounting plates.
Thanks to BFT3.2 for giving me his spare cup washers.


I prefer the extra room...
