Broken Rear Window Defogger Connection

Hello! Since I purchased my 75 911s the rear window defogger has never worked... switch lights up but no magic.

Took it to the shop and they indicated that all was well with the switch, and that power was running straight to the rear window... but the fools that put the window tinting on the car apparently clipped the connections.

Cannot be easily repaired... hopeful for any suggestions. I'm told that a skilled window repair tech can etch into the glass, put a wire in place, and epoxy the work, providing a connection to the lead...

I'm in Austin, TX getting ready to move to Seattle, WA and I know I'll need to get this fixed. I know the replacement cost of the window is HIGH.

Scott, I ran into the same thing. Mine, the wires weren't cut. The terminals on the window had broken off.

So I posted the question last summer. Here's the answer from our 2 electrical experts. Warren & Roland.

I father had a similar problem on his car a couple of years ago....he managed to find a glue which contains metal and is conductive. The soldaring methods are hard and you can end up damaging more that you fix.......I will send an email and see if he remembers where and what the glue was. I do remember that it worked extremely well and that you could not easily see the join.

This works well for the tracks.....if it is the spades that are broken off then the glue maybe questionable? buth then again if you are not planning to replace the window glue the wires on directly and put a connector a few inches awayin the cables.

Thank you all! Well now I'm actually looking forward to getting on my knees in that back seat! Wow I've missed having a functional defogger... my mechanic dismissed repair outright and so I never gave it another thought.
