Signal Orange / Tangerine?

Can anyone post pictures of any cars in either tangerine or signal orange? I've already searched the forum and have seen about five different shades of signal orange and five of tangerine. Thanks.

you're going to see variation in the pictures even if they are the same car...such is life. To me tangerine looks redder, while signal orange is just frickin' orange (ain't it cool?).

Signal Orange and Gulf Orange are pretty close, as orange shades go ... the car above looks like Gulf Orange on my monitor!

Tangerine is redder, as Todd said, but all three look great to me ... and are all in close contention to be my next color in the spraygun! Leaning towards Tangerine, currently, but every new pic I see in Signal or Gulf Orange makes me wonder, again!

This beauty was on eBay a year or so ago. Very cool .... The color looks exactly in the middle of the color scale between Signal Orange and Tangerine when holding my color chart up to it. The problem is with the cameras taking the photos - 3 different cameras could render 3 different shades of the same color. Great color in any case! -- Curt

Here's our Signal Orange Targa. It is hard to photogragh the color orange. I have never seen a Gulf Orange car in person but from pictures I thought it was a redish orange more like Tangerine not closer to Signal. Is Blood Orange the same thing as Tangerine? Thanks.

Here is Paul Thomas' signal orange beast. IMO one of the best looking early cars around.

Paul Thomas' car is the shade of orange closest resembling what I'm looking for. The first and third pictures look closest, I could see a variation due to the overcast and the sun.

Paul, or anyone else who has seen his car, does it look different in person than it is photographed?

I am leaning towards an orange with a red shift.

Maybe Paul wants to trade for a snappy red 85 Targa?

Dang that's a fine car. Dang!

Is it just me, or is Paul's car too red to really be signal orange?

It seems more like tangerine to me, whereas the targa a couple posts up looks more like signal orange looks in person. Kind of a yellowey orange, hints of a caramel color.

I love the shade of Paul's car.

Paul, that car is simply awesome. Please find someplace to get some pics that really show it off. Sort of how Jack Olsen did with his. Someplace with great lighting, setting etc.

That thing is poster material. OUTSTANDING JOB!!!

yeah it is really hard to tell...

I am getting my car shot in signal orange so I'll try to post pics of what kevinp53 mixes up

but my understanding is the plain old orange color is signal orange

and the more red orange is tangerine

but then I've seen oranges with a brown hint to them...

in the christoruphus magazine (the porsche factory mag) I scanned in the signal orange targa they had in a nostalgic piece about a year ago

Painting the Free Targa: orange or silver

so I think the signal orange is a pure orange and the tangerine orange is much paler orange or the redder orange...

hmmm

On the left, signal orange (1976 Carrera RS), on the right continental orange (my 1976 Carrera 3.0). The difference is not obvious.

I may be wrong but i think that there were different years of shades also. When we were looking through the Porsche paint code book, the title of my color was 73-74 Signal Orange. Heres one right back from the shop, i have another pic in the sun but it is too big to post.

P Thomas' car color

Hey Mark are you watching this? If you like the color I'll call the person who painted it and get the specs on the paint. It has to be the best S/O I've seen. Let me know
