Pelican Get-Together Next Week in San Joes / San Francisco Area...

Hey everyone. I'm headed up to Los Gatos next week with my Technical Editor (Tom Woodford, of Pomona fame) to take Bruce Anderson's class.

We're trying to organize a Pelican get-together some night next week. The 914 guys are already on it. Any interest here?

Maybe we all meet at some place with a bunch of restaurants, and have a gathering of 911s (and 914s) in the parking lot? Then get a few beers and nachos?

-Wayne

I'd do that. Los Gatos is a nice little place, too.

I'll be there the following week (BA tune up class) but don't mind making two trips.

Sounds good to me, being my home town. I would suggest staying away from downtown if you want a get together as parking can be really tough. Depends on what day/time you are thinking however. Let me know if you need some suggestions.

I'm in!

I agree with Doug. There's some great places is Los Gatos (including the brewery), but parking is a problem.

Any suggestions, Doug?

I'm in.

Downtown Los Gatos is cool, but as above parking is tight in the evening. No way to get a bunch of cars in the same place.

What time are we talking about? If it's early enough why don't we meet in a less congested spot. We can do the parking lot car inspection thing, then we can do my favorite local drive, Rt 9 (30 minutes round trip). Starts in Saratogo (next to Los Gatos) and goes up into the mountains.

Then we can re-convene in Los Gatos at the Brewery and late arrivals can hook up there?

I'm in too.. Sounds cool, depending on what day or time.
Los Gatos can be a parking problem though What do you guys think of the "Rock Bottom Brewery" in the Prune yard? it's not to far from Los Gatos and parking is not as bad.

Did I miss what day of the week?
One suggestion I would have is Stufts Pizza on Los Gatos Blvd. It is cretainly not fancy, nor downtown, but has plenty of parking. It is hard to see, but right behind McDonalds on the Blvd. There is also an Erik's deli right next door, which is usually pretty quiet in the evenings. Pleanty of parking behind the building also that is almost never used. Stufts also has a couple back rooms we could reserve.

Someone mentioned Rock Bottom, which would be fine but Pruneyard parking can also be tough.

Welcome to the challanges of the bay area!

Anyway, a few places to think about.

Doug

sounds good, but to throw another lead ballon, the hwy 9 deal is great except for the month of december. seems that there are a bunch of people up there driving REAL slow with trees tied to thier roofs.

if you guys reall want to make a drive on sat or sun i would recommend a bit farther north on mines rd. its about an 80 mile loop from livermore out and about and back to livermore. if interested i can give more of a skinny.

Note that Saturday morning there is a group from the 993 board on Rennlist meeting at the intersection of Hwy 92 and 35 for a morning ride. Meeting at 7:00 a.m.

Hey.. 914's are ok by me..Wayne, If your going to be hanging out in Sunnyvale you might want to concider "Stoddards" durring the week the parking is not to bad. I hope everyones still interested.
For me the week days actually work out better anyway.
And if you choose to hangout in Sunnyvale that's even better since I work there.

Jorge (Targa Dude)

My current thought is the Tied House in Mountain View on Wednesday night. I'm in Sunnyvale myself, and work at Moffett Field. The Tied House has held a number of 914-people gatherings over the years.... Objections?

Do you need to meet in Los Gatos? I would think that an easy meeting in an In and Out Burger would be ideal. That way there is a nice parking lot for showing anf viewing. Also everyone can eat and wander at their leisure.

I am familiar with an In and Out in Mountain View which is just north of Los Gatos. Los Gatos is cool but parking would make it a real hassle.

Otherwise I would be interested in showing up to from San Francisco.

Michael
