Search function help

Is something wrong with the forum search function? If not, then something is wrong with me. I entered the keyword 3.6 and got 0 hits. That can't be right. FWIW, I'm looking for experiences people had in dropping a 3.6L into an earlier car or why they decided not to do it. Thanks.

Steve

Pelican's forum search function does not facilitate numbers.

Use Google advanced.

Here are the hits I found loading in only 3.6 against this tech forum URL.

https://www.google.com/search?as_q=3.6&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&as_nlo=&as_nhi=&lr=&cr=&as_qdr=all&as_sitesearch=http%3A%2F%2Fforums.pelicanparts.com %2Fporsche-911-technical-forum%2F&as_occt=any&safe=images&as_filetype=&as_rights=

Thank you very much sir. I'd never have figured it out. Did you have to create the string as shown, or did you just type a few keywords (3.6, Pelican forums, 911-technical)?

He typed this into Google

"3.6 site:http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/"

You can copy/paste the URL.

So you type "3.6 site:"
and then paste the web address of Pelican's tech forum.

An even simpler way would be to type:
"3.6 pelicanparts" into Google

Awesome info.

Only qualification is that "3.6 pelicanparts" would pull up everything in Pelican Parts vs only the 911 tech forum.

Google Advanced asks for a search phrase and then asks domain (i.e., URL) on the first page. Plus plenty of other search options I don't use. I did not type that URL. However, if slanski bookmarks my link he can pull it up and load in any search term he wants in the front end of the saved URL.

Here is the "raw" Google Advanced URL.

I didn't even know Google had an advanced search. I feel old.

Google

This also works:

site:forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum 3.6

48,900 results from this search!

Put whatever you are searching for where the "3.6" is.

From a previous thread: Enter your search term into Google followed by the phrase "site:http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/"
