1970 3.6 liter RS clone .. it lives !

Hi Everyone,

Thought I would share a couple pics of my 1970 rs clone project.I just got it running this weekend !.And took it for a test ride down the treet .. no fenders/bumpersglass/doors/lights .. but one hell of a motor and trans , and operational brakes too .. what else do you need in NH at 25 degrees ..haha

Have to say WOW .. tons of power , and the engine spools to 7k in a half second .. nice revvy engine. And goosing the gas in 1st or second broke loose the tires easily but the limited slip kept the car in a straight line..note: road was snowy and icy so only low speed testing

So the specs on this car are ..

1970 911T non-sunfroof body with steel rs flares
911sc front and rear suspension + brakes
30 mm rear ,21 mm torsion bars
1990 3.6 motor with b+b headers instant G install kit
and engine chip
1986 915 trans with oil cooler and limited slip

Now its off to the paint shop for paint and final assy, be ready in a month or two .. keeping it original color blut orange color 018

Take care ..

- Joe -

hahaha AWESOME

love your dedication...

I assume your car is Blood Orange...there is a discussion going on about the differences of tangerine, signal, blood...

congrats

Cool, now get off those salty roads

Did I read that you put a 930 box in an SC?

I am starting my 3.6 conversion in jan, what is holding your muffler up, the exhaust seems to be one of the biggest issues, Kevin

I may be the only one, but I just love the look of a 911 with the fenders off and the hood in place. Also, a bare-metal 911 with the headlights out.

I guess I just love projects!

I know the turbo box is solid, but don't you think you'd want an extra gear. Modifications not withstanding, a G50 maybe? Just wanted to know your choices. Thanks.

I would leave it just like that with black primer, red steel wheels and wide whitewalls......A 911 Rat Rod
What ascreamer that thing is gonna be!

Good going Joe !!! Looking pretty good. And the best part is if you leave it the way it is, you can get that weight down.. Good luck on the remaining portion of your project and keep us updated..

Hi

Yea it was a fun trip , first thing out of habit was .. when i was pulling out of my driveway, looking out my side view mirror .. no mirror no door ..haha

The color of the car stamped on drivers plae is 2323 tangerinie , but i mixed some up and for whatever reason it didnt match the car, however color 018 1970 blut orange which is blood orange is a perfect match , and that included the remains of original paint under dash area , so the car is in its original color

now just need to set rear height at 24.5" and send off to paint shop .. they have replacement fenders and doors already that i gave them to prep

Thanks,

Joe

P.S. yes I have a 930 trans in my other 911 with a v8 motor , i disassembled a 1986 930 box and milled down the diff housing and the main pinion shaft to match i think 1.75 inches to fit in the 1975 tub, and it worked great .. so you dont need a early 930 box 75-77 , you can run a later box and just modify it as i did .. a bit more work , but a better trans than the early 930's
