3 liter with 964 cams?
What differs with the cam timming procedure exactly so I don't mess up???

The only difference is the "setting distance". I don't remember what the distance is for the 964 cams but it will be something 1.25mm vs say 1.0mm for the SC Both values are wild guesses, look them up!.
