Neither of those pronunciations you use is really correct. Listen to a German say it.
How about putting these videos in the off-topic forum, since they have no technical content? JR |

This is old in Europe its porsch a in America it Porsche. In Europe it coup ah in America it coupe. But the Germans in there infinite wisdom knew when they produced there best 911 they made sure nobody would have a problem with pronunciation. They called it a TARGA.

I think pronunciation is a personal choice. Now I'm going to hop in my Toyot and head home.

If they make us say "sheverlay" then they can darn well say "porsha".

My boss is German, he reliably informs me its supposed to sound like this (and I can only try to spell it the way its apparently supposed to sound, or not)
And my old boss used to work on the 993 project with porsche, and he agreed. Porschey (not porscha or porsch) In other words the e on the end makes an eh/ey sound If that makes any sense at all

Two syllables. You can't really hear the R. Almost like Paw-sha with some kind of way back in the throat gravely sound at the transition to the second syllable. The rusnak Ferry vid I just watched does not sound exactly like that but way less emphasis on the "r" than we place on it. It is fair to say Ferry knows how to say Porsche.

Mr. Porsche said "You can pronounce the name of the car anyway you like, however my name is pronounced Porsche"
A German Pronounces the name Porsche, whereas an English speaking person - Particuarly Americans for some reason, pronounce it PorschA. It's a semi silent e on the end. |
