Running Lamp Weirdness

Driver's side running lamps recently started blowing fuses, never had an issue before. Strangely the "Brakes" warning lamp on the dash is now also constantly lit, these may have happened simultaneously but I didn't notice the running lamps at the same time since I don't drive at night a lot. No issues with high/low beams, flashers, or brake lamps. I don't think these circuits are connected though?

I've done the normal troubleshooting such as pulled the front and rear lamps and headlamp bucket apart and checked for kinked or broken wires and cleaned grounds, etc. Pulled the handbrake apart and cleaned and adjusted the switch for that for that issue. Everything seems fine, perfect actually, but I'm still stumped. Put a new fuse in and poof.

Is there something I'm missing about this circuit that you electrical gurus can shed some light on for me (preferably of the "running lamp" variety!) Should I take a look at the switch now?

cheers
