Mezger engine question
Does the 2011 Porsche 911GTS have a Mezger engine?

I am not to familiar with the new turbo cars but I thought that they didn't use it after 2005.

I believe the last Mezger engine..as they are known...was phased out with the 997 GT3 family of cars. My 996TT has one though.

You're right, its a VERY good performer.
Only time will tell how durable it is and where its weak spots lie.

Last turbo car to have it was the 2009 997 Turbo...
As mentioned, 991 Cups still have them... But Porsche is finally starting to use the 9A1 for racing... hoping that goes well... that is what I was waiting for... finally!

Two different long time dealer techs I know at two different of the largest Porsche dealerships in Los Angeles (Downtown L.A. Porsche and The Auto Gallery Woodland Hills) tell me in that the 6+ years the 9A1 cars have been out (2009) they have never had one car come in with any kind of engine failure or require replacement. Which would say at least for street use they should do well and last a long time.

Except the 991 GT3's which all needed engines replaced...

We ran 3 of them at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona without a hitch. Went on to win the championship against Mazda's factory effort. They have proven themselves quite robust in endurance racing and I suspect the oiling and sump changes they have made for the RSR version have only made then better.
