American/Canadian assistance begged
Gentlemen across the sea,
Last year I was in Seattle and Los Angeles, and whilst in the City of Angels I discovered the Beverly Hills Car Club: Collector Cars For Sale | Vintage Car Sales | Mercedes Benz, Jaguar, Austin Healey and more! I'm being medically discharged from the British Army in the next year or so, so though of importing Porsches to the UK and Ireland and modifying them like my one on this thread: "Scoundrel", not Outlaw... I am having some productive discussions with them regarding this, but the obvious aspect of them being in California would bump up shipping costs I imagine. Do you guys know of anywhere of a similar standard on the East Coast or elsewhere that I could look for cars? Thanks. |

Rocket, no one else has taken the bait, so I will, but what I'll say is probably a statement of the obvious: that all air-cooled 911's, and even 912's are in such hot demand right now that the competition to snap them up is intense. That said, the originator of BHCC's business model is Gullwing Motor Cars in Queens, NY (i.e., NYC). The proprietor, Peter Kumar, has been selling cars-in-need-of-repair for quite a few years now and, while I don't know him, I think he has a relatively OK reputation...although this opinion may draw some alternative responses? Either way, you will see where BHCC got its idea when you look at his website. But you can be sure that guys like PK, and Alex Manos are constantly scouring ads across the US and, with cash in hand, quickly buying up the more needy cars as the come up for sale. Best of luck to you, John in CT. PS, love those seats in your oak green narrow-body.

Hot market for sure. A buddy sold a 69E that needed work. He posted on kijiji for fun to see wht happened. Within 2 hours he had tons of emails, his phone was ringing off the hook, he had a bidding war between three people, and others were starting to get angry. It was madness.
He sold at the two hour point, and the buyer flew up the next day for inspection. The motor was from a 71. oops.

If you are looking for cars to import as bases to build on....the dry states are the best ones. I would avoid the north east, because of the rock salt used up there. I am in Florida, lots of nice cars but you are never more than about 50 miles from the ocean. Unfortunately you have to go to Texas to start to get the dry climates that cars do not rust in. Of course cars of the age you want have been all over. My 75 project car is a Californian car originally....I know it spent a lot of time in Georgia before the PO brought it to Florida...so....

Thanks guys. I might be over in the next few weeks for some family stuff anyway, so thought Id use the time wisely to look for potential suppliers.
What websites would you use in the US to find cars also? Autotrader? Ebay? Craigslist? |
