Guidance on turn signal relay buzz please
On my 1986 Porsche 911 I am getting a relay buzz only with the passenger side turn signal. All parking lights work and so do the hazard lights, however the hazard light icon on the dash ( flashing left and right arrows) only flashes with the left arrow. When I turn the right passenger turn signal on I get a relay buzz and a solid right arrow on the dash. I read this might be a ground issue? Can someone break this down dummy style for me? I have the front bumper off and the rear tail light out is there anything I should test?. Thanks in advance.

Could it just be a burned out filament on either the front of rear signal lamp?

Everything appears to be working. I swapped the front bulbs around and it didn't change . Maybe I should try the back too and see what happens. My old parking lamp housing was toast so I had to take the bumper off to change it anyway.... If it's just a bulb I'd be so happy.

Rear lighting housing fully installed and grounded?
Check the rear bulb as well.

From what I can tell all bulbs appear to be working properly. First thing tomorrow I will swap all the left rear bulbs to the right. I unbolted the rear ground and cleaned it with sandpaper then reinstalled with no luck . It's frustrating!

I assume you already tried a new relay.

I got a new relay from Porsche here in Atlanta and it did not change anything. Also my switch was ordered from pelican, so I assume it's good to go..... Running out of ideas other than finding a mechanic that specializes in electrical....

Is it possible to get a bad relay that is new? I'll see if I can find a way to test it; I assume I can check the ohms somehow?

Yes. new relays fail all the time. Just ask any industrial electrician...
You will need to energize the coil to test the flasher circuit and contacts.

I just ordered another one to make sure. I'll test the other one just out of curiosity, however it's spring and I want to drive! No Time for delays.

Well, if it is so urgent to drive and nice out, roll down the window and use hand signals.

Haha I've been doing that, but the maniacs here will either hit my car or take my arm off.

Well I replaced the front turn signal and parking lamp on the passenger side, I swapped all the bulbs in the rear light housing, I cleaned the rear ground wires, and I changed the relay. Still buzzing. I'm going to just take it into a shop. I'm sure at this point it's something simple, but will take some time to find the bad ground. I'll post what the results are in a couple of weeks when I have the time to get it to a shop.

Just out of curiosity, does the buzzing occur and the right tach light not flash with the hazard switch turned on?

I have an 86 and I'm very familiar with how this circuit works. It should be easy to troubleshoot. Maybe I can help.
The flasher will buzz if it's not loaded with enough lamps. Your flasher is fine if it works for the left side and the hazards. Your problem is the right side exterior blinkers are not properly connected to the flasher when you actuate the right turn signal. When your hazards are on, do all the exterior lamps flash? It's not a grounding issue at the lamp housings since the parking lamps use the same ground. |

I have exact same thing. When I removed the alarm system, and immobilizer, the central locking would only work if I reinstalled part of the alarm. Now no right turn indicators at all, only a loud buzz from relay, which has been replaced. I must admit to literally cutting out the whole system, and have managed to cheat the central locking ,but the indicators!!!!??
