ANYONE ever widened Euromeisters? RSR style
I have an extra set of 16X9 Euromeisters, I'm doing an RSR /Iroc tribute , I thought about having them cut and welded to 11's or 12'sand all 4 refinished?
Anyone ever done it? |

Not all casting alloys weld particularly well and without knowing the composition and heat treatment condition it could be risky.
Many of the alloys used for casting wheels can be welded successfully but not all of them are good news. Some of the stronger heat treatable alloys have quite high levels of copper and any alloy with greater than 0.25% could present problems in the welds Heat Affected Zone. It would also be useful to know more about the alloy used as selection of filler rods may need to vary depending on composition. Fuchs wheels are forged from 6082 heat treated to a T6 condition which is readily weldable. |

I had my front Euromeisters widened to 17x9. Shop had no issues / worries, even after I explained that they were cheap Chinese made cast wheels. I've used them for AX for over a year now.

A company called Weldcraft local to me. Here's my blog post on the process.
I'm thinking you should be able to find someone capable of this in just about any major city. It's going to be that one grumpy craftsman / artist that doesn't necessarily advertise what they do - maybe try calling wheel repair shops.

The $140 was the original cost of the wheel.
Crap, I don't remember how much it was to widen each.

One thing: OP is specifically asking about widening the outer barrel. I'm guessing it's harder to make it perfect on the outer barrel (makes sense from an aesthetic standpoint), since Matt noted Weldcraft won't do the outer side. I've seen it done from cookies to steelies, though.

Have you looked into tires availability? I don't think you can find anything wider than 275 in 16", unless you are running a racing slick.
