G50 Guide Tube
How can I tell if my TOB/guide tube were updated? (My cross shaft has the factory update, but I know that does not mean the guide tube was done, too.)
Thanks! Andrew

guide tube
Tough to tell from the outside. It could have had either-the guide tube update
takes a plastic lined bearing but no way to see it from outside the bell housing.

I should have mentioned, I've got the engine out and separated from the tranny! So I can see the bearing and guide tube, I just don't know what to look for.

Hi Andrew. Here is a pic of the TOB that came in the Sachs G50 clutch kit I got. I had to update my guide tube for this TOB because my existing on would not fit.

Hmmmm....looks like I have the old one, but I may need to clean off the front to be sure.

Yup no problem.
Also you can get an idea of how old you clutch is by the date on it. In your picture there are numbers on the clutch spring fingers from 12 o'clock to approx. 2 o'clock. The last numbers are typically the year of manufacture if I recall correctly.

And I measured and confirmed I have the old bearing. Might as well replace them I guess. Man this is getting expensive!!!! |
