Uh Oh - Cold Springs Fire, Colorado
As the Colorado Pelican contingent knows, the mountains west of Boulder around Nederland have faced a wildfire started by transients who were "camping" on private property and couldn't quite figure out how to kill dead their campfire. No one has been killed but several homes have burned and over 2000 were evacuated, although some of those have now been able to go home
I know of one Pelican who lives in the impacted burn area, so it broke my heart to see this photo from the fire. Looks like what was once a pretty nice long hood. Really sad. . .I hope it's not who I think it might be. ![]() I guess it is a reminder to be well insured. ![]() Photo by the Daily Camera/Matthew Jonas.

Uh Oh - Cold Springs Fire, Colorado
Saw that photo, so horrible.
I live at the bottom of the canyon and moved my Porsche into town. Luckily we were never evacuated. While packing our go bag the only files I took were my service records. My girlfriend found that funny. Last edited by CarlosDanger; 07-12-2016 at 04:33 PM.. |

Looks like a water pumper 996 or later. Saw the video of that scene on Sunday evenings national news. There was a bunch more cars in the video!

I also think it a 996 Carrera. Belonged to one of the firefighters up there. Speedo may have been evacuated but the fire isn't over on Sugarloaf. It is less than 600 acres and 25% contained tonight.
Theres a much larger and faster moving one down near Cotapxi and Salida. Over 7500 acres and growing.

Cold Springs Fire
I am ok for now. No power (no water for four days). Didn't see that the fire had any containment....so to hear 25% is good news. Been on the edge of evacuation for several days. The feds came in Sunday and took control...good news, not much bad news...bad news, not much news at all. We hope the winds and temps die down. Indigent campers on private lands that just don't care...very sad. Morality within this group of "travellers" is pretty pathetic.

Hang in there Lars. The start point of this thing is about 1 mile from the home my wife grew up in. Scary stuff. I'm reminded of the 4 Mile fire from a few years back.

Hot d a m n.
I'm still packing bug out bags this time every year due to Haman fire in 2002. I've got one 911 on jackstands in my garage which I'd swore I'd never do during fire season.. Pins and needles time even though I'm not directly threatened at the moment.

My sister lived in Nederland for many years and has plenty of friends there. That 996 belongs to her friend Charlie, who lost pretty much everything other than his horse and mini donkey, which they managed to get out. He is a firefighter and was first to respond to the call, only to discover it was his own house. I think the houses lost were on Ridge Rd. Very sad.
