The most important elements to be clear about are how you intend to use the car. Is it going to be a daily driver in stop and go traffic? Will you use it occasionally for track or autocross? Do you enjoy just driving it for pleasure but don't hammer it? put that together with your frequency of 100 degree hot summer days and then people can guide you better. Answers without the correct data points to begin with are just answers.

Is some type of cooler meant to be there on a '77? My car only had a pair of A/C hoses running along the passenger side.. My temps rarely get over 200F.

up to 77 did not have external cooler so no worries there. Not to say you couldn't add one with the right bits
78-83 is indeed the lifespan of an SC with the trombone cooler , From 84 on Carreras were a different animal and got a different cooler. I see a fair amount of SCs here in Canada and a LOT have the original trombone cooler . Lower regional temps would negate the need to replace it . If I hung out at the track however I am sure the story would be substantially different on the SCs running there. |

A guy with a 930.
I run a midyear with only the engine mounted radiator. I see a fan/carrera cooler in my future. Especially since I live in the desert. |
