Anyone using the URO oil pressure sending unit?

The oil pressure gauge on my '76 with the 2.7 sometimes gets erratic. It looks pretty old so it's probably due for a change. The URO part is $30 and the Porsche part is $120.

Anyone have any experience with the URO unit?

I don't know this from experience but have heard not to use the URO unit.

Not a part I'd go cheap on especially with their reputation for wide variances in quality.

Since I can buy 4 for the price of 1, I'd buy two and keep a spare. I run the URO in my 3.2 and haven't had any problems.

I got one and had to exchange it for one that worked. Then that one lasted less than a year.

Some URO stuff is okay. Their taillight lenses are actually pretty nice and I've installed some of their minor suspension bushings, which also appear to be fine. But, their electrical stuff has proven to be less than reliable for many folks.

I would rater pay for the quality part and avoid the oil leaks and other issues with the URO oil pressure switch. It is not a fun job to replace. And the oil leak can make a real mess.

Many times, it comes back to what is your time worth in replacing the lower price part / don't you get what you pay pay for scenario?

I ordered the Porsche part from our host. Sometimes there are viable aftermarket alternatives. Not in this case, apparently.

I run a VDO 360-023 sender on my '75. It's the same range as stock. (I found this reference on the VDO site at some point; I'll see if I can find it again.)

The thread on the 360-023 is different than the stock sender. I found an oil drain plug with the same thread as the stock sender and modified it to make an "adapter".
