Headed to Tampa FL via Nashville TN, any "Must Sees"?
Hi all,
I'm taking my job search south - to Nashville TN then Tampa FL. Plan to be down there the first week in January. Any exotic hi-po shops I should check out? ![]()

ditto on don garlets museum and watch out for the great
oranges next door at the fruit stand. I filled up my slant nose's back seat with fruit for the return trip after buying the car and had orange juice on me for for the whole trip back to kansas, but the car still smells sweet 1 1/2 years later. keith |

Howdy....
I live in Atlanta, so you must know by now that if your coming toward this town in rush hour its hopeless!!!! Pullover, read a book, have a meal, see a movie, etc. Its fairly boring going down I-75, but its mostly nice 3 lane blacktop with smooth surfaces. Take the 475 bypass around Macon. They just finished it and its a beautiful piece of road. The Georgia Highway Patrol is crafty in setting up speed traps. If your an aviation buff, the Warner Robins Air museum just south of Macon, 4-5 miles off I-75 is spectacular! Its free and they have a magnificent collection of planes in several hangers and outdoors. Not many folks are awre of the size of this place, but I think its one of the best in the country. Getting to the Florida border (4 hours+ from Atlanta) is a straight shot, but nothing much to see unless you take a side road to check out Andersonville (Civil War Prison Camp), Carter's home town of Plains and a giant peanut sitting atop a brick pedestal along 75! On the way to Tampa, nothing else comes to mind either unless you check out the Daytona Race track. Once you get to Tampa if your want some great restaurant variety......you must go to IBOR City (original Spanish quarter) and the COLUMBIA Restaurant. If you want more neat choices, head a few miles north to Tarpon Springs and the great Greek restaurant, PAPPA's in the Greek "Sponge Village" area. Or head a little south to Long Boat Key to MOORE'S STONE CRAB Restaurant. Its worth the trip to cross the bridge and head over to St. Petersburg where the beaches are. Tampa offers Busch Gardens, a few museums (downtown) and some nice bay views. If your a golfer you found paradise. My suggestion is that you make a stop at the Florida Welcome Center and check out the city guides. Have a safe trip............... Regards Bob |

if you go through Chattanooga stop at Lookout Mountain. Unless riding 100 year old angle trains that climb a mile up the steep side of a plateau isn't your kind of thing!
