Do most Pelicans join PCA?

I finally got around to joining PCA the other day and was wondering about the rest of you. What do you say?.

I did. I figure it's kinda like joining AMA if you ride a motorcycle. Good to support a group that supports your interests.
I didn't put the sticker on my car though.

Not all PCA regions are created equal, some may have active members with different priorities than what you're looking for. In the east coast people are generally within an hour or two driving distance of a handful of regions so more choices.

It's been a very worthwhile membership for me in the four years of P car ownership/membership.

Yes, I joined in 1988 when I bought my 1983 SC. Years later as my interest in cars declined I let membership lapse. Now about 2 years into renewed interest in my 95 C2 in rejoined a couple months ago. I always enjoyed Pano and the track oriented events. Hope to get out to a track or autocross this year.

I've been a PCA member since 1974 when I bought my first Porsche, a 914 2.0. I agree that the local region's activity level can have a big influence on how much you can get from it.

The monthly Panorama magazine is much better now since the change of editor's a while back as the old versions were getting kind of stale. It's probably worth the cost of the yearly dues if nothing else.

Question really should be, do PCA/POC members join Pelicans. I noticed allot have not when I mention Pelicans. In my region, allot of new car older fella members. My table was really small with air cooled guys.

Reminds me of when I go to the dealer events and I am the only 3.2 there

I joined, they recently created a new Region where I live, shortly after we actually got a new Porsche Dealer. Not a ton of air cooled buys (I drive a '74) but still a fun group to get together with. We have nothing for tracks around here, so drives are just on road.

i joined the PCA right after I bought my SC. Although I wasn't able to attend every function, the ones I did were fantastic and I was introduced to some really nice people. Like others stated, the local chapter can vary on what they do. The dealer discounts didn't mean anything to me as I did my own work but they can be useful for someone that needs a wrench.

Remember, you can change to a different region if your current one doesn't fit your needs.

Panorama is worth it alone, it's actually the only magazine I still get a printed copy of. Im 20 minutes from Limerock so joined the CVR chapter. I've met some fantastic people through it at DE's who have gone out of their way to lend a hand or share their wealth of knowledge.

I have been a PCA member for 15 years now. I have met some of my best friends in the club. Luckily, our local region, Riesentoter, is incredibly tech/track heavy, so there is always someone doing something interesting to their cars.

This forum is great, but it is no substitute for hands-on learning.

Pelican and PCA really elevate the Porsche ownership experience.

I joined PCA 3 years ago when I got my 911. I've enjoyed that part.

I also joined my regional group. That I have not enjoyed. I won't be renewing. The saying "It's not just the cars, it's the people" does not apply here. It is just the cars.

I thought, hey, there is so much camaraderie here on Pelican, there has to be even MORE when I'm with local people that I can speak to in person. Not so much...

I joined 5 years ago when I bought my car. Insurance gives a PCA discount and I like taking issues of Panorama with me on business trips.

I joined within a couple of months of buying my car.

For those of you whose regions aren't meeting your needs, may I politely suggest that you get involved! Clubs can't do much if everyone sits back and waits for other people to do it all.
