Radio won't stay in dash
The car is a '76 911 and the radio keeps popping out of the dash. I see there are 2 strips of alumin. on each side that act like springs and i believe this is what keeps the radio in place. I have tweeked the metal outward thinking this would keep it from moving, but it still keeps popping out. It could be that I need to pry the metal further from the side of the radio but before I do that I wanted to check in here first.
OBTW the radio doesn't work, and that's okay as i rather listen to the engine/exhaust. Thanks

I think there is a screw or stud to hold the radio in place with a mount to the fire wall.
Strange the side metal barbs when pressed out should hold it in place. Maybe you drive too fast ![]()

Jam a few bits of cardboard in there too.

I noticed the stud on the back of the radio is way too short to reach the bracket that I would take a nut to hold the radio in the dash.

There was some foam padding back there so I believe that's how the previous owner handled the situation. My previous attempts with the same foam padding didn't help, but this time with proper positioning may help this time.
Still don't know why this radio didn't have a long enough stud to reach to the bracket.

I just went through this with my son's M3. I used little Velcro squares. Works great.

radio fitting
use one or two nylon ties, one will do the trick
if you can not find a small gap at rear off radio to attach to .take one screw from the back out, and refit with a nylon tie attached then retighten screw. |

You can use plumbers metal tape, the one with holes and bolt it down

The car is suggesting that the motor is music enough and trying to eject the radio...

BC... classic units---if you have such---have release barbs mounted on each side. There's a tool that sticks into the two holes and presses barb back to release unit from dash. Could be barbs are stuck (bent back) in release position... or gone.
