77 911 different height rear

My 1977 911 sits about 1/2 inch lower on drivers side rear. Front height is equal on both sides. What do you suggest to fix this?

Thanks.

Or lowering the passenger side 0,5 ". Will this mean that the swing arm must be remowed from the car?

Sort of. You don't technically remove them from the car (I mean you can, but you don't have to remove the torsion bar covers or trim), the spring plates come off the torsion bar and can hang off the end while you re-index them. You re-index the spring plate on the inner or outter torsion bar spline. If your spring plates are like mine, you don't have the height adjustment bolts like the SC and on. If you are mechanically inclined you can follow the procedure in the Haynes manual, or as outlined in numerous threads on this board.

You can see how I did it here.

I have the same problem as you. It's probably because one side is on a different spline on the torsion bar. Also, the front on opposite corners can affect the rear height. So lowering the front right would raise the rear left slightly.

If your '77 is like my '77 then you can make minor adjustments to ride height similar to an SC with no need to re-index.

Yes, it is - I will give it a try this weekend. Anyone remember which size these nuts are?

OK, thanks. So what way shall I turn the eccentric bolt to lower the car?

depends on where it's set currently I guess. a magnetic angle finder is an important tool in this endeavor.

Was the car corner balanced? If so, the ride heights may be different for a reason. A level setting for suspension corner weights does not always equal a level ride height.

Think before you turn wrenches or you may sacrifice handling quality.

Fellas, I hate to rain on your parade. but if OP lowers the one side it will inversely affect the other corner and partly the perpendicular corners.

OP. I suggest you go to a reputable alignment shop, corner balance with you in the car, have a big smile on your face on corners and live with the lovely cocked eyed fender heights or drive yourself crazy trying to straighten out the fenders. You will get close but not spot on unfortunately.

In fact try having a helper measure the heights while you are in the car. You will absolutely go cookoo.

Apparently the Engineers at PAG did not like the Body Designers back in the day. Thank goodness for modern CAD aided autobots.

^^^^ this. I had my car's suspension tuned by Rothsport. It came back with a 1/2 inch list but the corner weights were dead on. Couldn't be happier with the handling.
